Roberto A. Valdeón博士简介
Roberto A. Valdeón is Professor in English and Translation at the University of Oviedo, Spain. He is a Member of the prestigious Academy of Europe, and the Editor-in-Chief of Perspectives Studies in Translation Theory and Practice and General Editor of the Benjamins Translation Library, the first TS researcher to hold these two positions simultaneously.
He has published over a hundred articles and book chapters on EFL and translation, forty of which included in the Arts & Humanities Citation Index, the Social Sciences Citation Index or Scopus, including contributions to journals such as Across Languages and Cultures, Meta, Intercultural Pragmatics, Terminology, The Translator, Bulletin of Spanish Studies, Target, Babel, International Journal of Applied Linguistics, Languages in Contrast, Philological Quarterly, Translation Studies, and Translating and Interpreting Studies.
He has guest-edited special issues of Vigo International Journal of Applied Linguistics, Perspectives, Meta, European Journal of Translation Studies, Across Languages and Cultures and Language and Intercultural Communication, and is currently guest-editing a special issue of Target.
He has been a visiting scholar at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, US, and a Visiting Professor at the University of Leuven, Belgium, and has been appointed Research Fellow at the University of the Free State, South Africa, for the period 2014-2020, and Honorary Professor at Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Jinan University, Nankai University and Beijing International Studies University in China, and at the University of Stirling in the UK. He has lectured and delivered plenary talks around the world, including the Universities of Ottawa, Montreal, Oxford, Oslo, Copenhagen, Salamanca, Shanghai Jiaotong, Tsinghua, Sun Yat-sen and so on.
He has authored Translation and the Spanish Empire in the Americas (Amsterdam: John Benjamins, 2014), and edited Spanish in the US: Linguistic, Translational and Cultural Aspects (2016) and the collection Chinese Translation Studies in the 21st Century (2017), and is currently editing the Handbook of Spanish Translation Studies, the three of them for Routledge.
